My name is Marianne, and I'm the face behind the sewing machine at The Grateful Thread.

I’m a stay-at-home mom of three humans (5, 3 and 18 months), 3 cats, and 1 dog, and a mediocre housewife with a tendency to start a lot of projects and never finish them.

When COVID first hit in early spring, I saw a lot of my nurse friends trying to find anyone who could sew masks and decided that it was a perfect time to put one of my hobbies good use. I donated a few batches to some friends in different states around the country, and made a few sales within my circle of family and friends but never thought it would really lead anywhere. I created a google form and posted it to my Facebook, not really expecting much, but as it turned out, the masks really took off.

As a result, I worked to expand both the size range and styles I offered to suit as many people as I could. I ended up needing to find a better way to stay organized and take orders which led to me creating my current website, and since then I’ve been momming by day and sewing by night once the kids are in bed.

It's been difficult at times, but when my efforts are rewarded by satisfied customers who help keep us all a little safer while supporting my little business, it makes all the late nights entirely worth it.
